There is some awareness about the health hazards of white sugar. Yet, we continue to use it, be it carelessly or otherwise. Those who raise doubts that ‘we are addicted to coffee and tea… children only like sweets’ should think about what is the alternative to white sugar.
That is what guarantees taste and health. In that way, country sugar can be called good sugar. Country sugar can be a good and healthy alternative,” says nutritionist Bhuvaneshwari Shankar.
Sugarcane juice takes many guises. If it is well brewed, melted, strained and made into balls, it is balled papaya. If you print, you will get print. Powdered sugar. This is what we call country sugar. If chemicals are added to this sugar, it is called white sugar.
White sugar has no real benefits other than being visually appealing. A statistic shows that obesity and overweight people have doubled in the past 2 years alone due to white sugar consumption.
White sugar is also responsible for one in four Indians suffering from a non-communicable disease. In particular, it has been diagnosed as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease or cancer. The data also says that one in 10 people aged 18 years and above have to face diabetes.
People with diabetes and obesity should avoid taking white sugar. People who consume too much sugar are also more likely to become obese. White sugar also leads to physical and stomach problems for the users.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has created a website called Eat right India movement. This website has been created as a guide to create awareness to reduce the consumption of foods high in salt, sugar and fat.
When we consume too much salt, sugar and fat mentioned above, it also warns that diabetes, high blood pressure and heart diseases will occur. The seriousness of white sugar is easy for everyone to understand.
But, no chemicals are mixed in native sugar, so there is no harm to the body. Basically my opinion is that sugar is in the food and fruits we eat and no one needs to take it directly. But we are used to consuming too much sugar. So, if you use native sugar instead of white sugar, you can protect your health.
Make it a habit to replace white sugar with plain sugar in any sweet dish. In other words, whether it is food or fruit that we eat, the carbohydrates present in it are converted into glucose and enter our blood.
When we take it directly in our food as sugar, that glucose gets absorbed into our blood quickly. Therefore, do not add too much sugar, even if it is country sugar. The American Heart Association advises women to consume 6 teaspoons of sugar per day and men to consume 9 teaspoons per day. This should also be kept in mind!”
